Airline Rewards

Airlines Reward passengers who Donate to Hurricane Sandy Relief. Donating to the Red Cross in support of the victims of Hurricane Sandy will get you a reward on top of the wonderful feeling you get for helping your fellow human being. In recent years, airways have created post-disaster donation pages that award passengers for their generous contributions. This is not to say that the travelers really need an award to help out disaster victims. According to the airway's website, the award program is apparently very effective. Members of the American Airlines A Advantage program donated $1.9 million to the Red Cross last year.

These donations went to help victims of Hurricane Irene and those affected by the extensive earthquake and tsunami that took place in Japan. This week, the response was prompt. On Friday, Jet Blue Airways, which called off over 1,500 flights last week, told customers by email that they could be awarded seven points in its True Blue loyalty program for every $1 donation at its Red Cross page by December 30th. The airway will measure up to $100,001 in passenger donations. An additional $261,000 is to be donated to a nonprofit organization by the company in order to assist those crew members that were affected by the disaster.

In addition, the airways extended the periods for waiving cancellation or change fees. Ticket holders who were scheduled to fly between November 31th and December 5th can adjust their dates as tardily as 15th December. And incase the customer does not want to fly, they will be given a credit for the full worth of the ticket good for a year. Customers can also make donations to the Red Cross through the online giving page created by United Airlines, feeding Ameri Cares and America
